Demokratia heartly wishes you welcome to the Faroes. That you have taken the time to come to our tiny far-flung country is a sign that what often seems impossible is possible, if just the will, ability and effort are present. You will know this better than most, as you have fought your way to the Presidency of the United States. However, behind a great man very often stands a great woman it is said and in your case there can be no doubt that this is a fact. We hereby wish you to convey our greetings to your wife, Hillary and to tell her that we are monitoring her campaign and give her our full support. Irrespective, if she is successful in her endeavour to become the first female President of the United States or not, she has already become an inspiration and role model for women all over the world.
It is women like her who remind us that it ought to be possible to have more women participate in politics. Even if female representation in the Faroese Parliament is just 9%, 0% in local government and 23% in town councils we believe that it is possible to reverse this trend. It would have been a tremendous experience for us if Hillary could have accompanied you here, to inspire and show us the way out of the unequal situation dominant in our society.
We do hope that such a visit may become possible in the future!
