-“If all goes to plan we should, in July 2009, have three supply vessels. They should be delivered in January, April and July, respectively. Two of them are already on long-term contracts”, says Mr Tummas Justinussen, CEO for Supply Service company.
Oil industry
Currently the Supply Service company, based in Leirvik, is not an active player in the offshore industry. However, from July of 2009 they will have close to 100 employees engaged in the offshore industry. They will have a fleet of three PSV (platform supply vessel) vessels.
-“The vessels have been built in Lisbon and Istanbul, and two have been finally furbished in Norway. The vessels are all sister vessels and are dual-hulled, clean design. This, together with DS/OHSAS, DS/EN ISO 9001:2000, DS/EN ISO 14001:2004, Achilles and ISM certification, will make these vessels among the most advanced in the world, compared to other PSV vessels”, says Mr Justinussen.
Twenty-four people will be attached to each vessel, twelve on each shift. On top of this, the company’s administration will have to be increased, so the number of staff could very soon reach the 100 mark.
Optimistic
Two of the vessels are already on long-term contracts with oil companies operating in Norwegian waters. –“We intend to become one to the world leaders, regarding safety and environmental protection within the offshore industry. This implies that we must, – in a Faroe context – invest heavily. Due to the fact that we already have contracts in Norway, we are not afraid of challenges that lie ahead,” says the company CEO.
The company has endeavoured to acquire the necessary knowledge required to operate within the offshore industry. In this connection, the company has appointed two foreign board members: Mr Per Sævik from Norway, and Mr Tage Bundgaard from Denmark, who both have detailed knowledge from the offshore industry.
This is the very first time Supply Service has a stand at an offshore exhibition/conference, but they have visited many similar events previously. –“Although we are mainly trying to reach people we already know, we think it is very interesting to participate in a stand, as we are so close to receiving our first offshore vessel”, says Mr Tummas Justinussen.
